Upgrade to the existing hospital building and Critical Care Cardiac Ward 1D, with specific requirement to back up the critical care beds
THE OPPORTUNITY
BPC Energy were awarded this project as an upgrade to the existing hospital building and Critical Care Cardiac Ward 1D, with specific requirement to back up the critical care beds.
To ensure the resilience to the ward, two new BPC manufactured Medical IPS 10kVA systems with 18 x MCB’s (MIPS10-18) were installed to provide absolute physical, electric and electronic independence to the medical location.
Each of the IPS systems was installed with internal auto changeover devices allowing two independent supplies to be fed into the IPS increasing their availability.
THE SOLUTION
To provide increased resilience in case of site power failures each of the MIPS, dual supplies were provided by a BPC PowerGem Pro 30kVA Medical UPS system with BPC PowerStor Batteries ensuring 60 minute runtime.
Two 4.3” Touchscreen Medical Local Alarm Panels (MLAP) were installed to ensure the UPS and IPS systems of all systems could be monitored in required locations.
A central Alarm Panel was also provided to monitor all UPS and MIPS systems and provide the site with a webserver so that all information could be accessible on the hospital network. The Central Alarm system provides email updates as well as visual and audible alarms.
THE OUTCOME
BPC successfully delivered and positioned MIPS and UPS to the designated locations within the hospital, carrying out commissioning and full testing to ensure a smooth handover.
This safe, intelligent and reliable range will ensure the facility can continue without interruption in the event of power disruptions, and the healthcare professionals are safe in the knowledge that BPC MIPS is at the forefront of patient safety, absolute reliability and power availability.
